Per Xiado's suggestion, I'll be soliciting donations for the "upkeep" of OCAD, and then turning around and using them to buy this:

I've been learning more and more about this and it looks really cool. But I want to try it before I jump in... I especially want to see the quality of the digital file that is made from the sketch.
And I suppose I would have to adjust to sketching with a ballpoint pen. I think I could do that.
I saw this, and I was very interested. However, I'm also a little curious as to how accurate it is.
In the ad for it, you can see the paper dip down as pressure is applied to the pen, and the control box moves a little as well - wouldn't that effect the overall detection of both location and pressure? It seems like the device has merit, but only if it were used on something like a clipboard with only a few sheets of paper at a time on it.
Personally, what I think would be REALLY cool for something like this would be to make the stylus more like an actual pencil - the nib is made of graphite and the "eraser" end is an actual eraser - that way, you can sketch more freely, and when you remove something from the paper, it removes it from the digital copy as well.
Knowing Wacom, it's just a matter of time before they catch onto that idea and charge 3/4 the original package price just for another stylus.
