Moderate success!
Is anybody else self publishing anything right now? I am and have met with moderate success. Well, for somebody who's never managed self publication before. I've sold 7 copies of my 0 issue and a preorder already on issue 1 of my comic. Once I get back to advertising the sales will pick up. (I make a pretty penny through my other crafty endeavors but sales have dropped recently as they are wont to do in the summer.) I am mostly happy to have a product that appeals to people who are not doll collectors or women.
Even if I end up selling barely 15 a month, it makes me happy to do and it improves my artistic skillz.

I use the usual photoshop and whatnot to do the drawing and whatnot.
I sell it via my website www.DeliciousPieDesigns.com and I did the printing through www.Kablam.com They were cheaper than most other independent places because they have no setup fee.

Well, I think I've sold around 50 copies of the book I printed over 4 cons (and a few online). My first printer did a good job but then flaked out and went out of business after I'd put in my 2nd order. So I used comixpress.com for the last batch. Ok, but not quite as nice on the binding. I might try kablam for a sketch book or something else, but not for the comic as I'd have to reformat the whole thing for a different size again.

Yeah my first issue I accidentally did in an 8.5x11 format and then had to resize everything, since then I've stuck to standard comic size.
I'd love to do a con, between the comics and my keychains, stickers, and other things I think I could make a killing. But it's about getting there in the first place.
I did finally sell out of Issue 0, and am halfway through selling out Issue 1. I've had to order more. So while it's only a few copies of each at a time, the readers are slowly increasing. And that makes me happy.
